Northern Territory Cattlemen's Association (NTCA)The Northern Territory Cattlemen's Association Inc (NTCA) is the peak primary industry group in the Northern Territory (NT) representing over 95% of the NT cattle herd, from small family operations to large corporate organisat ions. The NTCA and its members are progressive, passionate and focused on the future for our industry, its regional communities, families and future generations.
Our industry, the third largest GDP earner in the NT, successfully manages over 2 million cattle predominantly for the live export market. By area, employment and economic contribution, the pastoral industry is the dominant land based industry in the NT, focusing on long term sustainable production from an area in excess of 620,000 km² and 44% of the landmass. In the past 12 months over 365,000 head of cattle have been exported from Darwin, bound for our key trading partners in South East Asia. This year will see further growth in this essential trade and forecasts signal a doubling of demand over the next 4-5 years for the Indonesian market. There are multiple challenges and opportunities facing our industry. The NTCA is a driving force for continual improvement, adaptation and ongoing viability of our industry.
