In 1981 Dick David, a former Buntine Roadways driver began delivering fuel in the Katherine region with one truck.

Over time a network of BP fuel depots was established around the top end of Australia. Australian Fuel Distributors (AFD) became a leading distributor of fuel and associated products. Longstanding partnerships were established as the network grew.

Business growth and family succession lead to the creation of a specialised transport arm, now known as Directhaul. To meet the growing business demands the Ausfuel Group was formed.
