Crambrook Shooting for Sydney 500 Success

Defending Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series Champion Layton Crambrook is focused on one thing when he heads into this weekend’s (December 4 – 6) eighth and final round on the streets of Homebush as part of the inaugural Sydney 500 and that is to finish the year on a winning note.
laytonCrambrook’s main Sydney 500 weekend objective is to pick up his third round victory of the year and take out back-to-back championships.
“The Sydney 500 is going to be a fantastic event and I’m very much looking forward to being a part of the weekend and hopefully I can come away with victory. This weekend is all about going out there, winning the round and whatever happens after that in terms of the series standings is completely out of my control, you never know what might happen,”

With the Sydney 500 being around a street circuit, Crambrook, who has arguably been the fastest driver consistently over the past two years in the Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series, it gives him added confidence.
“I favour street circuits, as there is nowhere to hide out there and you have to drive both fast and consistently smooth in order to finish at the front,” he said. “I believe that street circuits aren’t just solely about outright speed, it’s so much more than that, and that’s why I feel comfortable and like racing around the concrete circuits.” Crambrook is going to be a man on a mission during the Sydney 500 weekend as he wants to finish what has been a really strong but
disappointing year on a winning note.

Current Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series Point Standings (after seven completed rounds):
1 Jack Elsegood – 734 points
2 Grant Johnson – 691
3 Kim Jane – 687
4 George Miedecke – 672
5 Glenn McNally – 646
6 Layton Crambrook - 634

Not so Pleasing Hometown WSS Return for Gessner:

Despite once again showing promising speed; Cameron Gessner recorded a disappointing result after the completion of the second round of the World Series Sprintcar (WSS) Championship at his hometown track - Toowoomba's Charlton Raceway.

After having to qualify for the feature race via the B-main, when he finished second, Gessner had worked his way forward camerongessner1from his 16th starting position to be on the fringe of the top 10 only to drift wide on the one lane track during the middle stage of the race, ride the concrete wall and gently flipped over.

"It was a pretty much one lane sort of track and passing was quite difficult," explained the QLD # 68 Ausfuel and Metalcorp supported Cheetah driver. "We were all playing follow the leader and I wasn't going to die wondering, so I went to the top of the track and began to move forward a few spots, but then I made a mistake by going a little too high, then I got into the loose stuff and consequently crashed out."

Down but definitely not out, Gessner and the CG Motorsport team heads to Sydney's Parramatta City Raceway (NSW) for the third round of the WSS Championship this Saturday night (December 5).

"I seem to always have a pretty good run each time we go down to PCR and hopefully we can come away with another one," Gessner enthused. "The WSS Championship is a tough deal and now with all the PCR locals we will have to be on our game if we want to achieve a good result."

Northern Territory Cattlemen's Association (NTCA)

The Northern Territory Cattlemen's Association Inc (NTCA) is the peak primary industry group in the Northern Territory (NT) representing over 95% of the NT cattle herd, from small family operations to large corporate organisatntcaions. The NTCA and its members are progressive, passionate and focused on the future for our industry, its regional communities, families and future generations.

Our industry, the third largest GDP earner in the NT, successfully manages over 2 million cattle predominantly for the live export market. By area, employment and economic contribution, the pastoral industry is the dominant land based industry in the NT, focusing on long term sustainable production from an area in excess of 620,000 km² and 44% of the landmass.

In the past 12 months over 365,000 head of cattle have been exported from Darwin, bound for our key trading partners in South East Asia. This year will see further growth in this essential trade and forecasts signal a doubling of demand over the next 4-5 years for the Indonesian market.

There are multiple challenges and opportunities facing our industry. The NTCA is a driving force for continual improvement, adaptation and ongoing viability of our industry.
